During <br />this pandemic we should not be considering increasing police funding by $13.5 million. SAPD certainly does <br />not deserve 20% of the entire city budget. <br /> <br />This money should go towards the actual protection of the community via increasing funding for public <br />healthcare, among funding other initiatives to support vulnerable groups who are being hit the hardest by the <br />COVID-19 crisis. <br /> <br />Your approval of the purchase of 4 more police vehicles is wholly unacceptable and morally bankrupt. SAPD <br />should not have more resources to profile, harass, and kill Black and Brown individuals or people experiencing <br />homlessness. <br /> <br />Thus, I implore you to hear your constituents and not continue to corruptly bow down to the police union. <br />Continuing, and especially increasing, police funding is to directly support militant police brutality and state <br />violence. <br /> <br />You are supposed to be public servants so listen to what the public wants; the time has come to show your so- <br />called "solidarity" and defund the police. <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br />
