City has supported the legislation and worked with a <br />broad coalition of mayors to oppose the FCC order. In <br />addition, HK has closely monitored the FAA's drone <br />regulations, including its recently released Remote ID <br />rule. HK has also followed Congress' efforts to develop <br />legislation regulating autonomous vehicles (AV) --and <br />has worked to ensure that cities are not pre-empted <br />from regulating AV operations on city streets. <br />(TPA) There was no significant state legislation related <br />to deployment of next generation technological <br />infrastructure in 2019. TPA did work with the City's <br />legislative representatives to keep them updated on <br />federal legislation, and FCC regulations, related to this <br />topic. <br />Digital Divide <br />Support and advocate for <br />(HK) In close partnership with other city stakeholders, <br />legislation that addresses <br />HK has worked to develop and support S.1167/HR <br />closing the digital divide gap <br />4486 the Digital Equity Act. This legislation would <br />in cities. <br />create two major Federal grant programs, operated by <br />the U.S. Department of Commerce's National <br />Telecommunications and Information Administration <br />(NTIA), to promote digital equity nationwide. The <br />proposed funding for each program is $125 million per <br />year for five years — a total of up to $125 billion. HK <br />will continue to build support for this legislation and <br />advocate for its inclusion in an infrastructure package. <br />One program would be carried out through state <br />governments, with funding allocated by formula, and <br />would incorporate state -by -state digital equity planning <br />followed by implementation grants to qualifying <br />programs.
