Considering the amount of illegal fireworks that take place
nightly in this city - there is no reason to continue to ignore the increase in nightly bombs that
take place everywhere in our city. This causes anger and anxiety for all the hardworking folks
that need to wake up early, seniors, disabled, special needs, all the animals and birds outside up
in our trees. Think of all the beautiful parrots we have in Santa Ana that have to perch on trees
at night while people are blasting these things below them everywhere on the streets & having
to inhale the fumes all night. We can safely close our windows at night but this is so bad for the
environment - think of our air! Please don't bring up the funds that go into schools from the
safe & sane fireworks. There are other things our community can do instead to unite us...like a
nice parade during the day where everyone can enjoy the day and get together. Unite Santa Ana
instead of making it sound like a war zone at night.
Now is the time considering people are also using fireworks to throw at police officers! There is
too much lack of respect for this to continue in our city. This will make it easier for police
officers to catch the people shooting off the illegal fireworks too. I always thought
when people take advantage of a situation, it gets banned. Professional fireworks in large cities
like ours should only be done at places where they can be contained like Disneyland or Angels
Stadium...away from homes & wildlife. Please...there are too many of us throughout our city that
want this to end already but don't think our voices will be heard or a change can be made. Let's
turn things around for our city...one step at a time.
Please ban all fireworks in Santa Ana.
Kindly,
Emma Medina-Sisk
Washington Square Resident.
1
