Orozco, Norma
From:Backyard Brujx <ericagon1@gmail.com>
Sent:Saturday, July 18, 2020 10:13 AM
To:eComment
Subject:Engage 360 Daycare
Good Morning,

As an SAUSD parent, I am very disappointed to find out that we will be offerring Daycare after the
community spoke against re-opening schools. We have one of the highest Covid rates in OC, and our
students and their parents deserve better.

As an Engage 360 Instructional Provider, I am appalled that this decision would be reached and
promoted without consulting the folks who will be on the frontline.

Daycare is the responsibility of the city, not the school district. You have failed your residents over
and over again. Defund the police and fund daycare for residents, youth, resources, and community
centers. Rather than increase Police spending by $9 million dollars, you should have funneled that
money to support its residents.

This is a huge step backwards for the district, and goes against everything that we have been
speaking about, and also makes us looks like hypocrites.

We were nationally praised for putting our students' and teachers' health first by keeping our schools
closed, so it's completely baffling that we would even consider this program.

I expect that folks working this program will be paid an additional $13 of hazard pay on top of their
regular salary.

This type of decision must be made with all parties invloved present and with an opportunity to
oppose, prior to promotion. I understand that we are living through unprecedented times and no one
knows exactly what our next steps will be, but we must make these difficult decisions while being
inclusive and considerate of all parties involved.

In Solidarity,

Erica Gonzalez
1
