Your yes vote would <br />protect democratic processes in our city during this unprecedented pandemic. Ballot initiative circulators are <br />allowed by law 180 days to collect signatures, however due to the pandemic and stay-at-home orders we were <br />explicitly denied this right. The only way for you to make it right is by granting us an extension, and there has <br />already been precedent set in places like Sacramento and San Benito counties. Do the right thing and give us <br />this extension to exercise our rights under a democracy. <br /> <br />If you care about our wellbeing you might also consider placing our Rent Control initiative on the ballot <br />yourselves and in this way we can let voters decide the fate of our majority renter city without needing to risk <br />exposure to COVID19 doing door knocking. <br /> <br />All the best, <br /> <br />Mextli Lopez <br />3 <br /> <br />
