State Office of Traffic Safety STEP and TRIP Grants <br />September 1, 2020 <br />Page 2 <br />place. This contract also includes funding to replace obsolete equipment, including a supply trailer <br />that provides needed equipment in support of DUI checkpoint operations. Bicycle helmets will also <br />be funded by this grant. Overall, the grant includes $449,160 for Officer overtime, $5,250 for <br />training, $10,000 for equipment, and $18,290 for other direct costs. <br />The goal of the OTS TRIP program is to provide State and local agencies with assistance in <br />providing timely, accurate, complete, accessible, and uniform traffic records to identify and prioritize <br />traffic safety issues, to choose appropriate safety countermeasures, and evaluate their <br />effectiveness. This grant will help improve and streamline traffic collision database systems, <br />develop and analyze mapping systems to pinpoint high -collision areas and identify crash trends, <br />and promote data sharing and integrate traffic records systems.
