COMMENTS <br />14*I1LWyIW7IVAU10 _WAEr—YKi7JAIJAI:11►N�-1 <br />City Manager Kristine Ridge provided a brief update on planning efforts, will be <br />presenting an update on COVID-19 and Cares Act spending plan via a virtual community <br />meeting thru ComLink, and shared the success of the Censoteria game that took place <br />this past Friday, educating the community regarding the importance of completing Census <br />2020. <br />90B. CITY COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Bacerra requested staff work with Registrar of Voters to increase the <br />number of locations for Ballot Drop Boxes. Expressed concern with an individual who was <br />released from confinement. Thanked District Attorney for notifying the community of the <br />release. <br />Deputy Chief Gominsky informed council that they are consistently monitoring the <br />situation and are working with several agencies. <br />Councilmember Mendoza spoke regarding the public comment process, encourages <br />the city to participate in the Community Choice Energy program with the City of Irvine, <br />and expressed support of a rent moratorium extension. <br />Councilmember Penaloza encourages community to be outspoken regarding the <br />individual recently released from confinement and is residing in the city. Thanked staff, <br />and encouraged community to visit www.my202Ocensus.gov and participate. <br />Councilmember Sarmiento thanked council for the flexibility in having recurring meetings <br />to receive updates and address the public health issue. Encouraged redeployment of <br />part-timers to act as ambassadors and inquired about what the options for relief on the <br />submission of an initiative to be placed on the ballot due to the pandemic state. <br />Councilmember Solorio, thanked staff regarding the CARES program, in support of <br />redeployment of the SEW workers to assist as ambassadors, and directed staff to <br />consider the Community Choice Aggregation. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Villegas spoke on the success of the Artesia Pilar Neighborhood virtual <br />meeting. <br />Mayor Pulido spoke on Community Choice Aggregation and in support of having a special <br />meeting to act judicially to address the pandemic. <br />ADJOURNMENT - The next regular meeting scheduled for August 4, 2020 has been <br />canceled. The next meeting of the City Council will be held on Tuesday, August 18, <br />2020 at 5:00 p.m. for the Closed Session Meeting immediately followed by the Regular <br />DRAFT CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 1 U } _ 1 3 JULY 21, 2020 <br />
