REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />SEPTEMBER 15, 2020 <br />TITLE: <br />RECEIVE AND FILE CANNABIS PUBLIC <br />BENEFIT FUND FOR YOUTH SERVICES <br />INFORMATIONAL UPDATE <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1� Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />/s/ Kristine Ridge FILE NUMBER <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Receive and file Cannabis Public Benefit Fund for Youth Services informational update. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Below is a list of Cannabis funded youth services implemented by the following departments: <br />Library Services Agency (7), Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency (10), and City <br />Manager's Office (1). <br />Library Services <br />1. Book/Tech Mobile <br />Provide mobile library services to meet the changing community needs by serving people <br />where they live, learn, work, and play with an emphasis on technology, robotics, and STEM <br />learning. Mobile services provide critical access to library material, programming, and <br />technology. <br />Completed: <br />• Bid advertisement for the bookmobile, a custom designed Ford Transit van. <br />• On August 18, 2020, the City Council approved a grant agreement accepting <br />grant funds from the California State Library for the Knowledge Mobile "Know- <br />Mo": This grant funding provides additional books, educational programs, and <br />technology for the new bookmobile service. <br />In Progress: <br />Bidding process has closed and a vendor has been selected. The awarding of a <br />purchase order in the amount of $169,240 to Matthews Specialty Vehicles Inc. for <br />a new bookmobile has been placed on the 9/1/2020 City Council Agenda. <br />Timeline: <br />Bookmobile deployment anticipated for December 2020, however, may depend <br />upon vendor's timeline to build the vehicle. <br />19D-1 <br />
