If not.
PLEASE READ THIS ALOUD THIS AFTERNOON DURING THE MEETING, LIVE.
Here it is, below:
I am a property owner in mid-town Santa Ana and have been so since 2000.
I have done business in the city since 1990. I was very much in support of One Broadway Plaza from the beginning.
I helped to canvas my neighbors and fellow business owners in favor of the structure when there was a referendum
in 2005. Why? Because I knew it would attract new businesses and that would benefit all the existing local
businesses in town since the One Broadway occupants would frequent the many eateries, arts venues and small
businesses in Santa Ana.
I'm in full support of One Broadway Plaza moving forward, allowing the changes Mr. Harrah is requesting in the
overall plan for the project.
Accommodating work suites and upscale living spaces in the same building is sensible way to utilize the space. The
proposed use of One Broadway Plaza is a lot like Downtown L.A. which has a progressive vibe since its downtown
locales are now trendy and always buzzing with activity. For one, the L.A. Live District is a huge hit and an
economic boon to that city. One Broadway Plaza can do the same for the city of Santa Ana!
Mike Harrah has always been a visionary. For that, each of us business and property owners should be grateful. I
certainly am.
Mike Harrah has invested not only a tremendous amount of money, but heart and soul to Santa Ana since the late
90s. He's not developing and building simply for monetary gain, he's doing what he does because he cares. He has a
lot of pride in his projects. As such, he has helped to grow the value of properties in the business sector of the city
and brought an energy and life to it that it didn't have before. As I understand it, One Broadway Plaza would pay in
excess of $4-million a year in tax revenue to the city which would undoubtedly fund many programs and needs
within the community. That revenue would preclude many of us small business owners from having to pick up the
slack tax-wise from others who are tax exempt.
As a property owner, and the founder of the Orange County Crazies, which has been rooted in the city for the past
30 years, please let Mike Harrah realize one more of his visions. It would be of benefit to us all.
