We support a labor agreement being included in this project, as was previously provided for on two different occasions, and the applicant has committed orally this week to enter into such agreement. The decision on whether to have the applicant provide inclusionary housing or an in-lieu fee should be a decision to let the City Council review. As I mentioned in Mondays meeting, this project can be a significant economic boost to the City of Santa Ana. It not only adds needed housing stock , but will significantly reduce traffic from what he is presently entitled to build This is based not only from the reduced number of people with cars in the now residential sector of the building but from the resulting opportunities that will spin off this project and other changes in Santa Ana that will encourage less auto trips and more walking and transit. Much of the commercial and residential construction has passed Santa Ana by and with it the loss of revenue which can be used to refurbish our existing neighborhoods, invest into schools and parks and a safer community. Through direct mitigation dollars the applicant has committed to neighborhoods, including Logan, as well as potentially a significant in lieu fee, the city can focus on assisting Santa Ana residents .
