Families facing a financial crisis because of COVID-19 are eligible for $3,000 in rental relief <br />payable to their landlord on their behalf. <br />Eligibility Crlteria: <br />Santa Ana residents unable to pay rent due to impacts related to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) <br />Households at or below SO%AMI (see 2020 HUD Income Limits) <br />Households that are behind and/or on a payment plan due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVI D-19) <br />Program Details: <br />This program will be advertised by the City of Santa Ana via Nixie, on the City WebsAG, via social media and via <br />direct email(s) <br />Residents will apply online via a link on the City of Santa website. Two local nonprofits are available to assist in <br />completing the application process, if needed. Once the applications is submitted, all applications will be <br />lotterized and selected applications will be assigned to one of the following nonprofits to check eligibility, <br />contact and receive documents from the landlord. <br />The nonprofit agency will submit periodic Invoices with back-up documentation (canceled rent checks) for <br />reimbursement and reports will be provided through the application software. <br />State CARES Act funding will be used for rent payments directly to landlords on behalf of Santa Ana residents <br />and indirect expenses. <br />The CARES for Tenants Program was originally launched in May 2020 using federal Community Development <br />Block Grant- Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds to provide $1,500In rental relief per household. In October 2020, <br />the City revised the Program Guidelines to increase the amount of assistance per household from $1,500to <br />$3,000to more effectively address the needs of families facinga financial crisis. The two local nonprofits are <br />responsible to ensure that the families who originally received only $1,500from May 2020to September 2020 <br />are recertified to receive an additional $1,500in rental relief. As such, every family under the CARES for Tenants <br />Program would receive $3,000 per household, including those families that were already assisted. <br />IU <br />
