Page 6 of 52 <br />The Recipient will construct a new groundwater well that will add 4,000 acre-feet per year in <br />local supplies to the Recipient's drinking water supply. The Recipient relies on imported water <br />from the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) for a large portion of the Recipient's supply; this <br />imported water may become limited as the state of California experiences widespread drought. <br />This project is supported by the Recipient's Drought Action Plan, MWD's Water Surplus and <br />Drought Management Plan, and MWD's Integrated Water Resources Plan. <br />This agreement was selected from Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) <br />No. BOR- DO- 20-F002 WaterSMART Drought Response Program: Drought Resiliency <br />Projects for Fiscal Years 2020 and 2021. Recipient's proposal dated October 16, 2019 is hereby <br />incorporated by reference to this Agreement. <br />4. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE AND FUNDS AVAILABILITY <br />This Agreement becomes effective on the date shown in Block 13a of Page 1 of this agreement, <br />United States of America, Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Assistance <br />Agreement. The Agreement shall remain in effect until the date shown in Block 8 of Page 1 of <br />this agreement, United States of America, Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, <br />Assistance Agreement. The period of performance for this Agreement may only be modified <br />through written modification of the Agreement by a Reclamation Grants Officer. <br />No legal liability on the part of the Government for any payment may arise until funds are made <br />available, in writing, to the Recipient by the Grants Officer. The total estimated amount of <br />Federal funding for this agreement is $750,000.00, of which the initial amount of Federal funds <br />available is limited to $740,000.00 as indicated by "this obligation" within Block 10 of Page 1 of <br />this agreement, United States of America, Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, <br />Assistance Agreement. <br />5. SCOPE OF WORK AND MILESTONES <br />Under this Agreement, the Recipient shall construct a new groundwater well. The Project will <br />make an additional 4,000 acre-feet of water per year available through groundwater pumping <br />from the Orange County Groundwater Basin. Features of the project are anticipated to include: <br />• Construction of a new well with necessary piping and electrical equipment <br />• Construction of a well building <br />• Construction of a chemical facility building <br />The well will be located at 33045'20.8"N 117°51'37.5"W in the City of Santa Ana, CA.
