Orozco, Norma
From:Richard Payne <payneless2@gmail.com>
Sent:Monday, February 01, 2021 9:24 AM
To:eComment
Subject:Community Choice Clean Energy CCE
Dear Mayor and City Council Members,

We're asking you to join the OC Power Authority's
Community Choice Energy program. We support this
program, because it saves customers money, brings in
revenue by keeping our rate-payer dollars in Santa Ana,
and allows us to convert to renewable energy faster. As
solar power customers we know the value first-hand that
renewable energy can bring.

CCE’s have brought in millions of savings to a number of
cities and counties already. Monterey Bay Customer
Savings: $14M in 2019; on track to deliver $19M in
savings this year, Clean Power SF has saved customers $11
million, Irvine is looking at $10.6 million in annual net
revenue and $7.7 million in annual savings for consumers
while reducing emissions equal to removing 78,000 cars off
the road, and San Mateo’s CCE has saved customers over
$18 million and reduced emissions equal to taking 30,000
cars off the road.

Santa Ana has a lot to gain economically as well as quality-
of-life wise by joining this initiative. When Santa Ana joins
with other cities, the program would generate $92 million
per year in revenue by 2031. This money can be used for
COVID relief, EV charging stations, subsidies for EV
vehicles, green public transportation and other programs
towards a greener OC. For Santa Ana to join in makes it a
win-win for both residents and the city. Don't pass up an
opportunity like this. Thank you for making the smart
choice.

Richard and Mila Payne
8
