Orozco, Norma
From:Sarai Santamaria <santamaria@berkeley.edu>
Sent:Monday, February 01, 2021 6:22 PM
To:eComment
Subject:ITEM #16
Hello City Staff, Council members, and Honorable Mayor,

I adamantly disagree with the proposal to remove handball courts and other outdoor facilities from our Santanita
Park. Our city loves the handball courts and they are a part of our outdoor traditions. This is the complete
opposite of park improvement and it robs our residents of outdoor activities that enrich our lives during a
worldwide pandemic where we find ourselves with an incredible need to find safe activities to do outside of our
homes. I would like to suggest that the city ask the community near Santanita Park what THEY would like to
see improved in their park. I am sure they will have plenty of viable ideas that will actually IMPROVE our
parks and be relevant to our community’s use of the park. In Santa Ana, we already have so few spaces to be
outside. Please don’t take from the little that we already have, especially not during these pressing times.

- Santamaría

--
Cordialmente,

Saraí Joanna Santamaría Jurado
University of California, Berkeley
Interdisciplinary Studies Field, BA
1
