I have been attending Gente Market for the past months. The market has been well organized and safety procedures have been in place. I feel safe and secure when I attend their events, especially during these uncertain times. I read an article this past week in which a decision was made due to an overcrowded event held last, Saturday by Patches and Pins. Due to this decision city management cancelled all events held in Santa Ana which meant other events would be impacted too. I feel this should have been thought of more in-depth before deciding to close us too (Gente Market). Concerns of safety and procedures were in questioned; however, this should have been communicated directly to the event coordinators and handled accordingly directly with the event planner. On January 25 stay home orders were lifted, of course surrounding cities would be traveling into Santa Ana. More control of this event would have been ideal from the city event organizer. We learned from it and we need to move forward with a better procedure in place. Communication is a key for a better understanding of what is expected. Many people are in desperation searching of things to do. Businesses and properties are still struggling to make ends meet. Many businesses cannot afford to have employees work at this time. Management is working to avoid paying all this overhead. I am asking to give Gente Market and other small organizations an opportunity to reopen. We need to support small business and local business to grow and make the city achieve their economy goals. Thank you for hearing my feedback and concerns.
