CNA CNA PARAMOUNT <br />First Party Glossary of Defined Terms <br />Contaminants or Pollutants <br />Contaminants or pollutants mean any solid, liquid, gaseous or thermal irritant or contaminant, including smoke, <br />vapor, soot, fumes, acids, alkalis, chemicals and waste. Waste includes materials to be recycled, reconditioned or <br />reclaimed. <br />Continuing Operating Expenses <br />Continuing operating expenses means: <br />A. the Named Insured's normal operating expenses including any reasonable and necessary payroll; plus <br />B. charges that are the unsatisfied legal obligation of the Named Insured's tenants and for which the Named <br />Insured is now obligated. <br />Continuing operating expenses does not include extra expense, expediting expense or research and <br />development project continuing expenses. <br />Counterfeit <br />Counterfeit means a written imitation of an actual valid original document that is intended to deceive and to be <br />taken as the original document. <br />Coverage Part <br />Coverage part means the Business Property Coverage Part and Business Crime Coverage Part, as applicable. <br />Coverage Territory <br />Coverage territory means the United States of America, its territories or possessions, Canada, or Puerto Rico. <br />Coverage territory does not include any waterborne shipment to or from Alaska, Puerto Rico, Hawaii or territories or <br />possessions of the United States of America. <br />Covered Equipment <br />Covered equipment means any boiler, fired or unfired vessel, refrigerating or air conditioning system, piping and its <br />accessory equipment, and any mechanical or electrical machine or apparatus used for the generation, transmission, <br />or utilization of mechanical or electrical power. <br />Covered Instruments <br />Covered instruments means written checks, drafts, promissory notes or similar written promises, orders or <br />directions to pay a sum certain in money, and also includes written instruments required in conjunction with any <br />credit, debit or charge card issued to the Named Insured or to any employee for business purposes, or issued to any <br />proprietor, partner, member or officer of the Named Insured for personal use. <br />Covered Peril <br />Covered peril means a fortuitous cause or event, not otherwise excluded, which occurs during this policy period. <br />Covered peril does not include: <br />1. a fortuitous cause or event, whether or not excluded, which actually occurred prior to the policy period, <br />regardless of the date on which it first becomes manifest or is first discovered; or <br />2. damage from unknown causes or events. <br />CNA62641XX 10-15 <br />Copyright CNA All Rights Reserved. <br />HORaN RiskMmRgzmerdDivisian <br />REVIEWED & APPROVED BY.- <br />o z <br />Risk Management Analyst <br />
