CNA CNA PARAMOUNT <br />First Party Glossary of Defined Terms <br />2. the date operations would have begun if such loss or damage delays the start of operations and such loss <br />or damage is to any of the following: <br />a. buildings whether complete or under construction; <br />b. alterations or additions to existing buildings; <br />c. machinery, equipment, supplies or materials that are: <br />(1) used in such construction, alterations or additions; <br />(2) incidental to the occupancy of the area intended for construction, alteration or addition; or <br />(3) incidental to the alteration of the occupancy of an existing building. <br />B. If the Named Insured resumes operations, with reasonable speed, the period of restoration ends on the earlier <br />of: <br />1. the date when the premises where the loss or damage occurred could have been physically capable of <br />resuming the level of operations which existed prior to the loss or damage; or <br />2. the date when a new permanent premises is physically capable of resuming the level of operations which <br />existed prior to the loss or damage, if business is resumed at a new permanent premises. <br />C. If the Named Insured does not resume operations, or does not resume operations with reasonable speed, <br />whether at a location, reported unspecified location or elsewhere, the period of restoration will end on the <br />date when the premises where the loss or damage occurred could have been restored to the physical size, <br />construction, configuration and material specifications which existed at the time of loss or damage, with no <br />consideration for any increased period of time: <br />1. which would have been required to make changes in order to repair or reconstruct the property or tear down <br />undamaged parts of the property, to meet the minimum requirements of an ordinance or law; or <br />2. which would have been necessary to make the premises physically capable of resuming the level of <br />operation which existed prior to the loss or damage after the completion of repairs or replacement. <br />D. With respect to Dependent Property Time Element Coverage under the OFF -SITE COVERAGE section in the <br />Business Property Coverage Part, period of restoration means the period of time that: <br />1. begins on the date the physical loss of or damage to property at a dependent property occurs; and <br />2. ends on the date when the property at that dependent property should be repaired or replaced with <br />reasonable speed and similar quality. <br />E. With respect to research and development business income, the period of restoration means the period of <br />time that begins with the time and date of the physical loss of or damage to research and development project <br />property that causes suspension of the Named Insured's research and development project and ends on the <br />0 <br />earlier of: <br />1. the date such research and development project property could be recreated or restored with reasonable <br />speed and similar quality to the condition that existed at the time of loss or damage; or <br />2. 365 days immediately following the date the physical loss of or damage to such research and development <br />project property occurred. <br />F.
