Flores, Dora
From:Greg Camphire <gac37@hotmail.com>
Sent:Tuesday, March 02, 2021 11:03 AM
To:eComment
Subject:Santa Ana: Pass a climate emergency
Dear Santa Ana City Council and Mayor Sarmiento,

Fossil fuels are one of the most dangerous & imminent threats to our planet. Santa Ana is just one place that is suffering
the inordinate effects of this pollution, as proven in multiple scientific studies of our air, land, and water. New evidence
also demonstrates that toxic air pollution from fossil fuels also makes people more vulnerable to poor outcomes from
COVID.

Fossil fuels, and the deliberate concealment and misinformation about them from fossil fuel companies, are rapidly
killing all life on our planet.

Please pass a climate emergency resolution that includes a SAFE commitment and an endorsement of the global call for
a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. Passing this resolution will demonstrate your intent to keep Santa Ana healthy and
make our communities into leaders in the most important high-stakes fight of our time: man-made climate change.

You must commit to local actions that create policies ending fossil fuel expansion and speeding up the clean energy
transition from an economy that exploits natural resources to a culture that regenerates clean energy while creating
viable jobs.

Learn more about the SAFE Cities movement at https://www.stand.earth/safe and view a sample climate emergency
template with language demonstrating intent to pass SAFE policies and endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty
here: https://www.stand.earth/SAFEtemplate.

As a member of Santa Ana communities, I’m demanding that you be a leader on this critical issue. Please pledge to pass
a resolution that commits our community to explore SAFE policies and endorses the global call for a Fossil Fuel Non-
Proliferation Treaty.

Thank you,
Greg Camphire, 92701
1
