Student eligibility for Veterans Education Benefits is established by the Veterans Administration. Initial eligibility and <br />continued eligibility during enrollment is determined by the VA. The following policies are applicable to Students <br />receiving VA Benefits: <br />VETERANS' ATTENDANCE POLICY <br />VA students must adhere to the same attendance policy as other students attending Roadmaster. In addition to the attendance policy stat- <br />ed In this catalog, students receiving VA benefits in order to attend Roadmaster, must also adhere to the following: <br />• Excused absences will be granted for extenuating circumstances only and must be substantiated by entries in the student's academic <br />file, <br />• Legitimate documentation of why the absence occurred must be turned in to the Director of Training within a week of the absence. <br />• Early departures, class cuts, and tardies for any portion of an hour will be counted as a full hour of absence. <br />• Students exceeding three (3) days of unexcused absences in a calendar month will be dismissed for unsatisfactory attendance. <br />STANDARDS OF SATISFACTORY PROGRESS FOR VA STUDENTS <br />Students receiving VA benefits are required to maintain satisfactory progress to remain in good academic standing. Satisfactory Academic <br />Progress for VA students is defined as follows: <br />• A veteran must maintain an overall grade of at least 80 at the end of each course. <br />• If the cumulative grade falls below 80 the Student will be placed on probation for the next evaluation period. <br />• If the grade remains below 80 at the end of the next evaluation period, the VA will be notified of the probation, thus leading to the <br />termination of the benefits. <br />• VA Students may request reinstatement after a full term of dismissal has passed. <br />• Grading Period is defined as Weekly. Students are evaluated daily and evaluation results are discussed with each student <br />at least weekly. <br />VETERANS' REFUND POLICY <br />The refund of the unused portion of tuition, fees, and other charges for veterans or eligible persons who fail to enter a course, withdraw or <br />discontinue prior to completion, will be made for all amounts paid which exceed the approximate pro rata portion of the total charges that <br />the length of the completed portion bears to the total length of the course. The proration will be determined on the ratio of days or hours of <br />Instruction completed to the total number of instructional days or hours in the course. <br />VETERANS' TRANSFER OF CREDIT POLICY <br />Student Veterans enrolled at Roadmaster are required to provide proof of previous post -secondary training (including transcripts) by the <br />time they begin classes with Roadmaster. Veteran students who have never attended post -secondary training prior to attending Roadmas- <br />ter will be required to sign a statement of no prior training. <br />LEAVE OF ABSENCE POLICY <br />If a Leave of Absence is requested and approved by Roadmaster for a VA Student, VA education benefits will be terminated while the VA <br />Student is on the Leave of Absence, <br />TITLE 38 COMPLIANCE <br />Roadmaster Drivers School will permit any covered Individual to attend Roadmaster's Commercial Truck Driver Training Program during the period <br />beginning on the date on which the Individual provides Roadmaster with a certificate of eligibility for entitlement to educational assistance under <br />chapter 31 or 33 and completes all other required enrollment paperwork and meets all entrance requirements, and ending on the earlier of <br />(i) The date on which the Secretary provides payment for such course of education to such Institution or <br />(f) The date that is 90 days after the date on which Roadmaster certifies for tuition and fees following receipt from the student <br />such certificate of eligibility. <br />Roadmaster Drivers School will not impose any penalty, Including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries or other <br />Institutional facilities, or require that a Chapter 31 or Chapter 33 recipient borrow additional funds to cover the individual's Inability to meet his or <br />her financial obligations to Roadmaster Drivers School due to the delayed disbursement of a payment by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. <br />The covered individual will be responsible for payment of the difference between the amount of the covered Individual's financial obligations to the <br />school and the amount of the VA education benefit disbursement. <br />14 www.roadmaster.com <br />
