As a descendent of many who died and the few
who survived the Holocaust in Europe, I have been well-educated on the dangers of the use of biased
governmental measures taken against "outsider" non -citizens.
I have personally visited the former concentration camps of Buchenwald and Auschwich, which hosted multiple
unspeakable hate crimes of mass extermination. pseudo -scientific "experiments" on live human prisoners, and
slave labor.
These acts were the ultimate result of the Nazis' propaganda that Jews were not German citizens because they
were racially inferior. The German government justified all the discriminatory measures against Jews on the
grounds they were "outsiders" not entitled to any of the rights of German citizens.
Abuse of those who are labeled "outsiders" do not happen in a vacuum, they are nurtured by years of
indifference by those who know better. It is up to you, Mayor and Council, to do all you can to prevent future
abuses against immigrants. Strongly supporting AB 937 is the least you can do with your collective voices.
Thank you,
Joel Block, ESQ. [Retired]
Joel Lawrence Block, Esq.
