Tuition & Program Information <br />Alarm and Camera Technician <br />Fit and repair security systems in homes and businesses. An installer may perform the following tasks: <br />• Inspect sites and talk to clients to determine security requirements <br />• Provide estimates to clients for installation of equipment <br />• Feed cable through roof spaces and cavity walls, and <br />• position and terminate cables, wires and strapping <br />• Assemble, erect, position and label all items of equipment <br />• Test equipment and diagnose faults <br />• Make connections to telephone lines for alarm monitoring <br />• Maintain and adhere to operational procedures and <br />• complete appropriate documentation <br />• Be responsible for assigned tools, plan and test equipment <br />• Develop and keep good relations with clients <br />Security system installers must develop knowledge of the range of security equipment, including electronic and electrical <br />surveillance systems and closed-circuit TV, as well as knowledge of simple electronic principles and terminating <br />techniques. They must also understand the principles of operation and characteristics of controllers, detectors, relay, <br />bells, sirens, screamers, and telephone circuits. <br />Security systems installers work mainly indoors and sometimes have to work in confined roof spaces. They have <br />considerable contact with customers in businesses and private homes. <br />Security, Surveillance, & Alarm System Technician may serve in areas such as Cyber security and like career options <br />such positions often require 3rd party certification e.g. CompTIA, A+/Security. With experience, it's possible to become <br />the manager of a team of security system installers, become self-employed, or specializes as a Security Advisor. <br />Satellite Installers are responsible forthe installation, testing and repair of Digital Broadcast Satellites (DBS) and related <br />equipment in residential settings. Other duties include teaching customers how to use their equipment as well as <br />ensuring proper documentation of all customer interactions. In a typical workday, a Satellite Installer may do the <br />following: <br />• Install, upgrade, service and repair satellite products <br />• Handle customer questions and develop solutions <br />• Complete work orders, retrieving proper signatures for accurate billing <br />• Ensure all installation work is done according to quality standards <br />• Assist with work overflow <br />• Adhere to safety policies and procedures <br />American Trade Academy School Catalog Page 29 <br />
