F'�'jlESSEL M A Y( I )R PRO 4'111�kll 131STRIC"I" 5 April 15, 2021 Dear Honorable Mayor and City Council of Santa Ana: As the Mayor Pro-Tem of the City of Anaheim, I recommend Republic Services as a valued service provider and member of our community. The Republic Services campus is located within my council district. As one of the largest employers in the area, many of my constituents work on site and support their families with a quality job at a respected company. As a corporate partner, Republic Services has been a responsible neighbor and has played a larger leadership role within the region and even in other countries! I joined with a local community organization last year who had approached Republic Services with an idea to provide a community benefit to those in need. Many thousands of Anaheim residents originate from the State of Guanajuato, Mexico and wanted to give back to those in need. They had a vision to send surplus vehicles to their home state of Guanajuato, Mexico. This vision turned into reality when Republic Services, without hesitation, donated a rear load truck and paid for a large community festival to celebrate the kick off of a campaign that ultimately resulted in the donation of two trash trucks, a fire truck, two city utility truck and countless donated school supplies and other items for those in need.. I thank Republic Services for their leadership throughout the community. I serve on numerous boards and committees with their senior staff and have witnessed their thousand's of hours of community service, charitable giving, and leadership roles in organizations throughout the City. During the COVID 19 Pandemic, the company spent $7001 ,000 feeding their employees and provid'ing gift cards. In the process, Republic services supported 19 local restaurants in their time of greatest need. Many of these restaurants are owned by and employ my constituents, I am proud to have Republic as one of our local partners. Republic has been a high -quality service provider and community partner and is more than capable to provide your City with all your recycling and waste collection and processing needs.
