Public Works Agency <br />https://www.santa-ana.org/pw <br />Item # 12 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />May 4, 2021 <br />TOPIC: Hypochlorite Generator Units and Equipment Purchase <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Award a Purchase Order to PSI Water Technologies, Inc. for Hypochlorite Generator <br />Units and Equipment in an Amount not to Exceed $3,300.000 (Specification 21-013) <br />(Non -General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Award a blanket order contract to PSI Water Technologies, Inc. for hypochlorite generator <br />units, in an annual amount not to exceed of $660,000, for a two-year period beginning <br />May 4, 2021 and expiring May 3, 2023, with provisions for three one-year renewal periods <br />exercisable by the City Manager and City Attorney, for a total not -to -exceed amount of <br />$3,300,000, subject to non -substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City <br />Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency's Water Resources Division is committed to maintaining a <br />water production system that provides high quality drinking water to all City residents. To <br />this end, the City disinfects all groundwater with a sodium hypochlorite solution prior to it <br />entering the distribution system. Sodium hypochlorite is a water disinfectant produced by <br />on -site generation units through the combination of table salt, water, and electricity. The <br />replacement and service of these generation units is part of a regular preventative <br />maintenance program used to ensure the water system remains in compliance with all <br />applicable standards and regulations. <br />An Invitation for Bids for annual maintenance and repair of the City's 15 hypochlorite <br />generator units and for procurement of replacement parts and installation of new <br />submersible tank mixing systems for use in the City's ten potable water storage tanks <br />was advertised on February 12, 2021 on the City's online bid and management <br />publication system.
