For over fifty years, Waste Management has served as both a service provider and active community partner to the residents, businesses and organizations in the City of Santa Ana. Their local team of drivers and support staff have a proven track record of delivering superior waste and recycling services at equitable rates, while maintaining a company -wide, best -in -the -industry safety record. A bit about POOF: Power of One Foundation's founders have served low-income and homeless communities throughout Orange County and Los Angeles for over 16 years, focusing on food insecurity. During the Covid-19 Pandemic we were able to serve over 2.8 million individuals from over half a million families in large part because of the massive support we received from volunteers. Waste Management was a vital partner during the pandemic, and they continue to be. They have been a irreplaceable part of our operation being successful and effective. With Waste Management's support, the City of Santa Ana has received numerous recognitions for their environmental outreach and programs. These include recognizing recyclers in Santa Ana's neighborhoods, and being one of the first cities in the state to implement the three -cart automated system. Waste Management also plays a vital role in Santa Ana's vibrant and growing economy. They provide over 120 quality jobs to Santa Ana residents, purchase local goods and services and partner with other local businesses to help them achieve their sustainability goals. Waste Management also maintains a strong commitment to the Santa Ana community. Not only do their employees live, work, and raise their families locally, but they make every effort to support, organizations and activities that improve our quality of life and environment in Santa Ana. A recent example of this is their contribution to our foundation in 2020 — in which they provided free recycling and hauling services to help support food donation to over 2 million individuals during the COVID-19 crisis. Because of these reasons, we strongly urge the City Council to vote in favor of retaining Waste Management as its franchise hauler. With Waste Management, the City of Santa Ana will continue to be a cleaner, greener and safer place to call home. Thank you for your time and consideration.
