LR 8/17/21 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2021-044 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA APPROVING THE SANTA ANA PUBLIC <br />LIBRARY'S APPLICATION FOR FULL MEMBERSHIP IN <br />THE SANTIAGO LIBRARY SYSTEM <br />WHEREAS, the Santiago Library System ("SLS") is a state -funded network <br />consisting of the following full members: Anaheim Public Library, Buena Park Public <br />Library, Fullerton Public Library, Mission Viejo Public Library, Newport Beach Public <br />Library, Orange County Public Libraries, Orange Public Library, Placentia Library District; <br />Yorba Linda Public Library and the Huntington Beach Public Library. <br />WHEREAS, the SLS seeks to promote cooperation of library collections and <br />services so as to meet the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs of <br />all residents of the Orange County area. <br />WHEREAS, membership in SLS provides access to potential funding pursuant to <br />the California Library Services Act. <br />WHEREAS, the Santa Ana Public Library is currently an associate member of SLS <br />and desires to become a full member which would provide access and opportunity for <br />potential state funding. The Santa Ana Public Library is the only municipal library in <br />Orange County that is not a full member of the SLS. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana as follows: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana approves the Santa Ana <br />Public Library's application to become a full member of the Santiago Library System and <br />delegates authority to the City Manager and/or the Executive Director of the Library <br />Services Agency to execute any documents necessary to make such application. <br />Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br />ADOPTED this 17th day of August. 2021. <br />Vicente Sarmiento <br />Mayor <br />Resolution No. 2021-044 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
