Orozco, Norma
From:Maria Ceja <ceja.maria95@gmail.com>
Sent:Tuesday, October 05, 2021 3:56 PM
To:eComment
Subject:Nonagenda item: Justice for Brandon Lopez
Mayor and City Councilmembers,

It is very unfortunate to witness yet another human life lost in the hands of police brutality. Brandon Lopez was
a son and a father whose life was lost in our city. It is very disturbing and horribly wrong that our police
department allowed Anaheim Police to take control of the situation and ultimately allowed them to take the life
of an armless individual experiencing a mental health crisis. How we treat those experiencing mental health
crises reflects how we care about the most vulnerable residents in our city. Violence was not the answer, it was
never the answer, especially not tormenting him in his final hours with an overwhelming amount of police. If
we do not provide Brandon's family the justice they are seeking, then we will fail all residents who witnessed or
heard about Brandon's wrongful murder within the jurisdiction of a police department that is supposed to
protect us, not torment us. Brandon was our neighbor, our community member that should still be here today.

Please provide Brandon's family the justice they seek; the Santa Ana police department MUST be held
accountable for their complicity in the murder of Brandon Lopez.

Do the right thing.

Thank you,
Maria Ceja
1
