NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. The City Council hereby declares its intention to consider making <br />changes, modifications or realignment of ward boundaries. <br />SECTION 2. Public Hearing dates to consider making changes to current ward <br />boundary lines are hereby scheduled for: October 19, 2021 at 7:00 p.m., November 2, <br />2021 at 7:00 p.m., November 15, 2021 at 5:00 p.m., and December 6, 2021 at 5:00 <br />p.m. The first two (2) Public Hearings will seek input regarding possible changes to the <br />ward boundaries before any proposed ward map(s) are drawn. The next two (2) Public <br />Hearings will seek input regarding the content of the draft map(s). The City Council will <br />consider the introduction and first reading of an Ordinance establishing the new ward <br />boundaries on January 18, 2022. On February 1, 2022, the City Council will consider <br />final adoption of an Ordinance establishing the new ward boundaries. <br />SECTION 3. Additional public input workshop dates have been scheduled for: <br />Saturday October 23, 2021, 1 p.m. — Salgado Recreation Center, 706 N. Newhope St, <br />Friday October 29, 2021, 6 p.m - El Salvador Community Center, 1825 W. Civic Center <br />Dr, and Saturday October 30, 2021, 10 a.m. — Memorial Community Center, 2102 S. <br />Flower St. <br />SECTION 4. This Resolution amends and restates Resolution No. 2021-053 <br />adopted September 21, 2021. <br />SECTION 5. The City Council directs the Clerk of Council to give notice of the <br />public hearings and public input workshops by publishing this Resolution once a week <br />for two (2) weeks in a newspaper of general circulation. <br />SECTION 6. The City Council directs staff to work with the demographer and <br />other appropriate consultants as needed, to provide a detailed analysis of the City's <br />current demographics and any other information or data necessary to prepare ward re - <br />boundary maps that divides the City into voting wards in a manner consistent with <br />federal and state law, including, but not limited to the U.S. Constitution, the California <br />Constitution, the federal Voting Rights Act, and the City Charter. <br />SECTION 7. The City Council directs staff to establish a means of <br />communication to answer questions from the public regarding hearings dates and to <br />make every effort possible to translate material and notices in multiple languages, <br />including Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean. <br />SECTION 8. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />a majority of the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the <br />vote adopting this Resolution. <br />Resolution No. 2021-060 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />
