The amount that the City is seeking to charge el Centro is almost $40,000 and it would have a negative
impact on the services that el Centro provides in Santa Ana. From their letter, it’s clear that el Centro was
attempting to arrive at a resolution of a complex situation by engaging with City staff and seeking resources.
This non-profit organization has been based in Santa Ana since 1994, almost 30 years, supporting immigrant
communities and providing cultural and educational opportunities. I have seen the good work that they have
done on a continuous basis, work that benefits Santa Ana, and requiring el Centro to pay such a large fee will
impact the benefits and the services they provide, which will be a loss for our communities.

Sincerely,

Jeanette Rubio

2
