Traditional Redistricting <br />Principles <br />The Fair Maps Act passed by the Legislature mandates a <br />set of criteria we must follow when drawing ward plans. <br />•Relatively equal size - people, not citizens <br />•Contiguous – wards should not hop/jump <br />•Maintain “communities of interest” <br />•Follow city and census designated place boundaries <br />•Keep wards compact – appearance/function <br />Complying with the Fair Maps Act <br />City Council 1 –3 3/7/2022
