Apply the principles of <br />Crime Prevention Through Environmental <br />Design (CPTED) to enhance safety and <br />security within multi -family residential <br />developments. <br />uant to GC Section 65583 <br />ess Report <br />tenance, improvement, and development of housing as identified in the housing element. <br />Status of Program Implementation <br />In 2021, as part of the on -going strategy to improve the safety and maintain the well- <br />being of the neighborhoods, Code Enforcement and Santa Ana Police Department <br />responded and closed five illegal gaming casinos and five illegal cannabis grow <br />businesses operating in residential properties and adversely impacting the residents. <br />These properties were secured and the dangerous conditions were abated. In addition, <br />the City was able to recover over $80,000 in paid fees as a result of the code <br />enforcement abatement actions. This collaborate effort further enhances the <br />commitment to the City's 5-year Strategic Plan and support the Police Department's <br />assurance to enhance community safety. The Police Department and Code <br />Enforcement Division continue to hold community policing forums and gather input to <br />measure the community's perception of community policing and local police services to <br />enhance community safety. Through the Development Project Review (DP) process, the <br />City continues to engage with the Police Department to identify physical design <br />measures that promote safe environments within new and existing developments. <br />City Council 25 — 117 3/15/2022 <br />
