Recommended Action: Seeking input regarding the content of the draft map(s). <br />MINUTES: Redistricting Partners consultant Paul Mitchell provided a brief <br />presentation. <br />Council discussion ensued and direction provided to consultant and staff. <br />Councilmember Mendoza expressed support for plan F. <br />Councilmember Phan expressed support for updated maps SARCI and SARC 2, J, <br />J2, and K. <br />Councilmember Hernandez expressed support of SARC1, A and A2 <br />Mayor Pro Tem Bacerra stated reasons for support of map F. <br />Redistricting Partners consultant Paul Mitchell addressed council regarding the <br />policy of section 2 ward maps. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Bacerra noted we don't have to have an area to care about it. <br />Environmental justice is not isolated in an area of the town. Reiterated his support of <br />plan F. <br />Councilmember Lopez spoke on maps she has supported that creates a southern <br />ward, such as map J. Added she is looking forward to viewing updated maps SARC1 <br />and SARC2. <br />Councilmember Mendoza spoke on the five requirements that she considered when <br />choosing a map. <br />Councilmember Penaloza expressed support of map F and his opposition of map J <br />and J2. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Bacerra asked colleagues to state maps they would like to see return <br />to the next council meeting. <br />Councilmember Phan stated she would like to see maps F, J, J2, K, SARCI and <br />SARC2 come back along with updated maps SARC1 and SARC2. <br />Councilmember Pena/oza stated he would like to see maps F, SARC2 and K come <br />back. <br />Councilmember Mendoza stated she would like to see maps F and K come back. <br />City Council Minutes 4 02/16/2022 <br />
