PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor Sarmiento <br />MINUTES: Councilmember Penaloza led the pledge of allegiance. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT — Members of the public may address the City Council only on items <br />listed on the Special Meeting Agenda. <br />MINUTES: Victor Mendez spoke on the process and importance of selecting a map. <br />Encouraged the council to do the right thing. <br />Lino Paras noted that he came to observe the redistricting process. <br />Clerk of the Council Daisy Gomez reported out on correspondence received prior to <br />hearing public comments via Zoom. <br />Ana Charco on behalf of Latino Health Access and with the Santa Ana Redistricting <br />Coalition (SARC) spoke in support of map L2 and L2 revised and in opposition of map <br />K2. <br />Benjamin Vazquez spoke in support of map L. <br />Araceli Robles spoke in support of the coalition's map and spoke on the process and <br />importance of selecting a map. <br />Dale Helvig concerned that more maps were submitted and timeline may be extended. In <br />support of neighborhoods being intact. In support of community maps that were submitted <br />last week by Redistricting Partners. <br />Vincent Tran with VietRise spoke in support of revised L2 map. Spoke in opposition to <br />maps F and F2. <br />Maria Valencia with Orange County Congregation Community Organization <br />(OCCCO) spoke in opposition of having the Delhi community with the South Coast Metro <br />community. Spoke in opposition of maps F and K and their subsequent revisions. Urges <br />council to consider revised map L2 submitted by the SARC. <br />Fatima Paque, OCCCO volunteer, described her community and spoke in support of <br />revised map L2. Supports SARC maps. <br />Irene Bautista, OCCCO volunteer, expressed support SARC maps, specifically maps L, L2 <br />and revised L2. <br />Miguel Hernandez thanked council for their efforts.
