RESOLUTION NO.2022-028 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA ESTABLISHING THE JOINT SCHOOL <br />COLLABORATION CITY COUNCIL STANDING <br />SUBCOMMITTEE BETWEEN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />AND THE SANTA ANA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. By resolutions approved in the past, the City Council had created City Council <br />standing subcommittees for the purpose of focusing greater City Council <br />attention on key priorities coming before the City Council in the future; <br />B. In January 2013, the City Council established a joint Santa Ana Unified School <br />District ("SAUSD") and City Council Committee. The Committee was <br />disbanded in February 2020, along with all other subcommittees in effect at the <br />time; <br />C. On September 7, 2021, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2021-051 to <br />establish the School Collaboration City Council Standing Subcommittee. <br />Currently, the School Collaboration City Council Standing Subcommittee is the <br />only established standing subcommittee of the City Council and it includes <br />collaboration between all schools and school districts and the City; <br />D. On March 1, 2022, a majority of the City Council discussed support for an <br />additional School Collaboration City Council Standing Subcommittee between <br />the City and the SAUSD; and <br />E. The City Council seeks to establish an additional School Collaboration City <br />Council Standing Subcommittee between the City and the SAUSD entitled the <br />Joint School Collaboration City Council Standing Subcommittee. <br />Section 2. From and after the date hereof, there shall be a Joint School <br />Collaboration City Council Standing Subcommittee. The purpose of the Joint School <br />Collaboration City Council Standing Subcommittee would be to discuss issues of mutual <br />interest between the City and SAUSD focusing on youth services and including but not <br />limited to, joint use of SAUSD and City facilities; library facilities; educational programs; <br />and other topics related thereto. <br />Section 3. The Joint School Collaboration City Council Standing Subcommittee <br />shall consist of two (2) or three (3) councilmembers and two (2) SAUSD board members. <br />Resolution No. 2022-028 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
