AccS&& <br /> Building Occupancy and Access Restrictions <br /> A All work is to be done while the building is vacant; presently the building is not occupied. <br /> B. The abatement Contractors shall occupy the building, and access to asbestos control <br /> areas shall be restricted to authorized personnel. <br /> O Access restriction shall be accomplished by means of: <br /> 1. Provide only one(1)entrance/exit to the asbestos control area(except <br /> emergency exits). <br /> 2. Lock out all remaining unused ladders and entrances to the asbestoscontrol <br /> areas(except emergency exits). <br /> 3. Demarcation of the asbestos control areas at all potential entrances. Sign <br /> location shall be provided such that unauthorized personnel may read the sign <br /> before entering the asbestos control areas,thereby avoiding entry. <br /> 4. Demarcation of the asbestos control areas shall be accomplished by use of <br /> signs displaying the following legend: <br /> DANGER ASBESTOS <br /> CANCER AND LUNG DISEASE HAZARD <br /> AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY <br /> RESPIRATORS AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING <br /> ARE REQUIRED IN THIS AREA. <br /> IV. <br /> A Air Sampling During Abatement (By Owner At Owner's Option) <br /> 1. Once abatement operations are underway,samples shall be collected both in <br /> and out of the asbestos control area. A minimum of one (1)sample is to be <br /> collected inside the asbestos control area during each day of abatement, as <br /> long as abatement operations are underway.The flow rate should rangefrom <br /> .5 to 2.5 liters per minutes,depending on dust and dirt conditions. <br /> 2. Samples collected outside the asbestos control area shall be used toensure <br /> that contamination, if present, has not spread to other areas outside the <br /> asbestos control area. <br /> 3. Samples collected outside the containment must be taken as long as <br /> abatement operations are underway. Flow rates of 2.5 to 5.0 liters per minute <br /> should be appropriate for these samples. See Table 4-1 for interpretation of <br /> sample results. <br /> B. Personal Air Monitoring <br /> 1. Personal air monitoring shall be undertaken by the Contractor at his own <br /> expense. <br /> 2. Air monitoring shall include representative sample for all abatement activities <br /> and met the Cal/OSHA standard CCR Section 1529(d). These samples shall <br /> be taken as long as abatement operations are underway. The flow rates should <br /> range from .5 to 2.5 liters per minute, depending on dust and dirt conditions. <br /> Results of the tests shall be posted at the job side within 16 hours of <br /> completion, following the shut-off of the pump, <br /> 3.
