YOUTH ENGAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT <br />Youth oriented programs will help to provide a positive outlet for Santa Ana <br />p 9 p p p �" KL� y • •►, r <br />youth to explore art, leadership, and community connection. <br />There was a clear message from Santa Ana residents that young people need <br />activities and programs to help them build community, especially offering <br />youth a way to engage mentally and physically while taking a break from <br />technology. Younger school aged children also need programs after school and <br />in the summer that help to foster community spirit at a young age. Specifically, r <br />community members called for programs around life skills, independence, <br />leadership, employment, expression through art, sports, and community service. <br />Many community members mentioned their concern around gang activity. Having <br />a multitude of program options for young people can help provide healthy <br />alternatives and social support especially for underserved youth.
