Orozco, Norma
From: Nathaniel Greensides <mynci90@gmail.com>
Sent: Tuesday, June 07, 2022 12:46 PM
To: eComment; Hernandez, Johnathan
Subject: Public Comment - Agenda Item 8
Dear City Council,
I am Nathaniel Greensides Ward 5 resident and I am writing to ask that the City Staff also consider reaching out
to Community Gardens in Santa Ana so that youth may have a direct employment in any of our City community
gardens. It especially comes at a perfect time for Santa Ana youth who ceased in person classes mid year as
eleventh or twelfth graders in high school when the 2020 pandemic shelter in place orders came into effect.
Many individuals within this demographic of people continue to struggle with finding meaningful local work
despite the claim that businesses are hiring. Below is a list of local organizations (that I know of) with
community gardens in Santa Ana:
El Salvador Park Community Garden
Santa Ana People's Garden/CRECE Co-op
THRIVE CLT
Madison Park
Sincerely,
Nathaniel Greensides
i
