The program is primarily run by Academic Advisors, who work directly with youth on a day-to-day
asis. Academic Advisors meet with students to track their progress towards their goals; incorporate nationally-
eveloped curriculum into programming targeted to youth in our service area; and help students to understand
ollege application and testing requirements and work towards meeting those requirements. For example,
dvisors track students' A-G high school graduation requirements to make sure they are on track to attend
C/CSU, understand application and testing procedures, identify financial aid opportunities and commitments
lade to attend college, and manage other deadlines associated with college attendance. All College Bound
Ludents are introduced to opportunities beyond four year institutions: community college, trade schools, military,
nd other alternatives. Advisors also maintain an extensive list of scholarships and grants with deadlines and
=quirements, matching students to appropriate opportunities, and we provide FAFSA and scholarship workshops
nd application assistance to help them secure financial resources. For first -generation college students, whose
3milies are often unfamiliar with the college application process, these services demystify the process of applying
)r admission and make college an attainable goal. Finally, we supplement this academic and practical assistance
college tours, field trips, and motivational guest speakers.
he objectives of these activities are to help youth: (1) envision college as an attainable goal; (2) create a road map
)r achieving their academic and career goals; (3) develop the skills needed to attain those goals; and (4) construct
plan to provide clarity into the cost and options for financing advanced education. As discussed later in this
pplication, many of the students we serve are first generation college students who need assistance
nderstanding the difficult process of applying to schools and applying for financial aid. Some lack role models who
college, and may therefore feel that college is not for them.
Ilege Bound is our Club's strategic prevention model that works with teens from their freshman year in high
cool and provides the resources and mentors that help keep them on track for a strong future so that they can
positive contributors in their community.
EXHIBIT A
