The program is primarily run by Academic Advisors, who work directly with youtl <br />n a day-to-day basis. Academic Advisors meet with students to track their progress towards their goals; <br />icorporate nationally -developed curriculum into programming targeted to youth in our service area; and help <br />:udents to understand college application and testing requirements and work towards meeting those <br />?quirements. For example, advisors track students' A-G high school graduation requirements to make sure <br />iey are on track to attend UC/CSU, understand application and testing procedures, identify financial aid <br />pportunities and commitments made to attend college, and manage other deadlines associated with college <br />All College Bound students are introduced to opportunities beyond four year institutions: <br />mmunity college, trade schools, military, and other alternatives. Advisors also maintain an extensive list of <br />and grants with deadlines and requirements, matching students to appropriate opportunities, and <br />re provide FAFSA and scholarship workshops and application assistance to help them secure financial <br />?sources. For first -generation college students, whose families are often unfamiliar with the college <br />pplication process, these services demystify the process of applying for admission and make college an <br />ttainable goal. Finally, we supplement this academic and practical assistance with college tours, field trips, a <br />I guest speakers. <br />objectives of these activities are to help youth: (1) envision college as an attainable goal; (2) create a road <br />for achieving their academic and career goals; (3) develop the skills needed to attain those goals; and (4) <br />;truct a plan to provide clarity into the cost and options for financing advanced education. As discussed <br />in this application, many of the students we serve are first generation college students who need <br />stance understanding the difficult process of applying to schools and applying for financial aid. Some lack <br />models who attended college, and may therefore feel that college is not for them. <br />lege Bound is our Club's strategic prevention model that works with teens from their freshman year in high <br />ool and provides the resources and mentors that help keep them on track for a strong future so that they <br />be positive contributors in their community. <br />EXHIBIT A <br />
