Planning Commission <br />3 <br />5/23/2022 <br />o Staff provided that an improvement analysis would have to be <br />conducted to provide that data. <br /> What mitigating factors are being conducted to prevent a water <br />shortage? Is the City closing drains to collect water runoff from going <br />into the ocean? <br />o Staff provided that drain closures are dependent on surrounding <br />soil factors of the drain. Some drains are currently being closed <br />to collect rainwater, but additional resources would require <br />research. <br />o Staff also informed the Commissioners of requirements defined <br />in the open water management plan includes water <br />conservation. <br />Chair Morrisey asked: <br /> Are the needs from the 7-year projection data compensated for in the <br />CIP? <br />o Staff will discuss this with the Planning and Building Agency. <br />Due to restraints through grants, alternative funding will have to <br />be researched. <br />Commissioner Ramos asked: <br /> What is the purpose of street widening? <br />o Staff stated that street widening addressed safety modifications <br />for bike lanes and accessibility. <br /> How many lanes would that create? <br />o 3 <br /> What will happen to the parking spots in the area due to the lane <br />widening? <br />o Staff indicates that it is intended that the amount of parking will <br />be unaffected due to the widening. Specific plans for parking <br />have yet to be determined. <br /> What are the improvements for the Santiago Bridge? <br />o Staff stated that the improvements are to salvage as much of <br />the bridge as safely as possible and to address current safety <br />concerns. <br />Commissioner McLoughlin asked: <br /> When will the roads in Santa Ana be re-asphalted? <br />o Staff indicated that the breakdown of the budget determines the <br />location and timeframe of re-asphalting throughout the City. <br />Chair Morrisey Asked: <br /> How many miles are budgeted in the current plan? <br />o 19 <br /> <br />There were no speakers. <br /> <br /> <br />
