Also address integrity) <br />The Head-Wimpey House is architecturally significant as a characteristic example of the Tudor Revival style. This house was <br />originally constructed in 1935. and was valued at approximately $4,000 according to the original building permit. It was built by <br />Horace Caldwell Head, son of Dr. and Captain William Head who was a member of the California Assembly and surgeon. Dr. <br />Head was said to have fought in the American Civil War on the Confederate side and was Grand Cyclops to the Ku Klux Klan <br />in Tennessee. Dr. Head is also said to have personally delivered the bill to Sacramento to allow Orange County to secede from <br />Los Angeles County. He Horace Head was a graduate of University of California, Berkeley and was the attorney of the Orange <br />County Flood Control District, and later, was District Attorney for the County of Orange from 1904 to 1908. He served as <br />President of the Orange County Bar Association from 1915 to 1920. The Head-Wimpey House was first sold to Mr. and Mrs. <br />A.B. Wimpey in 1936. Mrs. A.B. Wimpey was a member of the First Presbyterian Woman's auxiliary circles. Their daughter, <br />Shirley Wimpey, was a member of the Christian Endeavor Society of the First Christian Church. The Wimpeys lived in the <br />property until the late 1940s. A. Newcomerpurchased the property in 1952 and then latersold it to John Scrivnerin 1953. Since <br />then, the Head-Wimpey House has been occupied by various owners until the current homeowner purchased the home in <br />2021, <br />(See Continuation Sheet 3 of 3.) <br />B11.
