Deemed as the most
vulnerable population, seniors are now experiencing additional isolation and are receiving less support services as
a result of the subsequent variants that are affecting communities worldwide. The City of Santa Ana -Parks,
Recreation and Community Services (PRCSA) will implement the "Recreation and Support Programs for Seniors" to
reduce isolation and provide essential services that will positively impact the senior residents of Santa Ana. The
three -pronged approach to this program will provide seniors with consistent physical activity led by certified
functionality and mobility instructors offered twice a week at both Senior Centers; increasing physical activity in
city park spaces (open area and proper distancing encouraged) with the formation of a walking club at both
locations with RtBit pedometers provided for club members. A knitting club will be established that will
encourage socialization, increase cognitive function and stronger physical dexterity. Senior activity booklets will be
provided to use at home that will contain word and number games, as well as coloring pages that will assist in
healthy brain function, boost mood, relieve stress and promote mindfulness.
We will use contract services to assist with transportation to and from each of the Centers for the instructor -led
classes, as well as to local facilities for the walking club. This may include the mall or local parks with tracks &
pathways for walking.
EXHIBIT A
