Water in Orange County Needs "One Voice" <br />GLOSSARY <br />AQUEDUCT A structure for transporting water from one place to another by <br />means of a pipeline, canal, conduit, tunnel, or a combination of <br />these things. <br />AQUIFER A geologic formation of sand, rock and gravel through which <br />water can pass and which can store, transmit and yield significant <br />quantities of water to wells and springs. <br />DELTA CONVEYANCE Refers to State Water Project (SWP) infrastructure in the vast <br />SYSTEM network of waterways comprising the Sacramento -San Joaquin <br />Delta (Delta) that collects and moves fresh, clean, and affordable <br />water to homes, farms, and businesses throughout major regions of <br />the State from the Bay Area to Southern California. <br />FIRO Forecast Informed Reservoir Operations is a flexible water <br />management approach that uses data from watershed monitoring <br />and improved weather forecasting to help water managers <br />selectively retain or release water from reservoirs for increased <br />resilience to droughts and floods. <br />GWRS Groundwater Replenishment System.
