I worked in sales within the medical industry, <br />while some areas of the industry became very busy, my industry did not. Due to the <br />pandemic, work became inconsistent and remains inconsistent to this day. Staffing <br />shortages and resources limited make my line for work very unstable at times. We have two <br />young children and my wife stays at home with them. We are a single income household <br />and depend heavily on our STR. Without having a portion of our home as a short term <br />rental we would not be able to afford keeping it. Home prices have risen exponentially so <br />selling and moving elsewhere is not even an option. Please do not take our business away. <br />It is how we provide for our family. <br />We manage our STR very closely. We have zero complaints and only allow young families <br />and couples stay in our space. No more than one car and four people total at a time. We <br />have marketing material in our space promoting our local small businesses like La Super <br />Birria, Detention, Crave Restaurant, 4th Street Market, Chapter 1 etc. Even with the <br />construction mess downtown our casita continues to feed those struggling businesses. <br />Our cleaning service is performed by a single mom in our neighborhood, she also heavily <br />depends on our businesses. Our landscaper as well. <br />We already voted in 2015 that we want Short Term Rentals in our community. If you must, <br />regulate STR’s. Keep us accountable for properly managing them and penalize the owners <br />that don’t. Short term rentals benefit our community and there is no reason to ban them. <br />I support STR’s in Santa Ana. <br />Zoning Ordinance Amendment No. 2022-03 needs to be corrected to regulate <br />instead of prohibit short term rentals. <br />Gabe Stroebel <br />(909) 451-3033 <br />Washington Square Resident
