<br />Case Planner Gomez provided a presentation which included a project
<br />description.
<br />Chair Rush opened the Public Hearing. Commission discussion included the
<br />condition of the home and the originality of the front door, and compliance with
<br />design standards. Commission generally agreed that the property should meet
<br />design standards prior to approval. There were no other speakers and the Public
<br />Hearing was closed.
<br />Moved by Commissioner Christy, seconded by Commissioner Le to
<br />Approve as amended with the following added condition: The applicant
<br />shall submit an improvement/rehabilitation plan outlining a list of exterior
<br />and property/site improvements. All exterior work shall comply with all
<br />requirements of SAMC Chapter 30, and be consistent with the Secretary of
<br />the Interior's Standards for Historic Rehabilitation and Monterrey Revival
<br />architectural style. The improvement/rehabilitation plan shall include a
<br />timeline of all proposed work to be completed and shall be reviewed and
<br />approved by Planning Division staff..

<br />Council to execute the attached Mills Act agreement with Benjamin and Catherine
<br />Mayberry, subject to nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and
<br />City Attorney.

<br />disclosed they visited the property.
<br />Case Planner Gomez provided a presentation which included a project
<br />description.
<br />Commission discussion ensued regarding current construction of the
<br />property. Commission voted to continue the item to the next meeting to address
<br />concerns regarding exterior modifications. At 6:26 p.m., Chair Rush opened the
<br />Public Hearing to allow the applicants the opportunity to address the
<br />commission's concerns. The applicants spoke in support of the item and
<br />provided additional information regarding exterior modifications. Expressed
<br />willingness to remove the tree in the front yard and to replace the brick that is not
<br />original to the home with qoin.
<br />Commission requested that renderings of the proposed modifications be
<br />provided for clarification to ensure that the work permitted is the work that was
<br />previously approved by the Commission.

<br />French doors on the rear (east) elevation as well as the removal of a window from
<br />the south elevation. All new windows will be doublehung, dual glazed wood

<br />first floor remodel, and a second floor addition of approximately 188 sq. ft. to

<br />Environmental Impact: In accordance with the California Environmental Quality
<br />Act, the recommended action is exempt from further review under Section 15331,
<br />Class 31, as this action is designed to preserve a historic resource. Categorical
<br />Exemption No. 202248 will be filed for this project.

<br />Appropriateness for Historic Exterior Modification Application No. 202205.

<br />7.Chair to discuss recommended amendments to Chapter 30 of the Santa Ana
<br />Municipal Code.
<br />Minutes: Discussion included the possibility of updating Chapter 30 to expand
<br />the purview the Historic Resources Commission to include items such as
<br />accessory structures and settings. Commission expressed interest in exploring
<br />options to update Chapter 30.
