Activities included <br />developing safety -oriented outreach materials, <br />pedestrian and bicycle safety workshops for <br />adults and teens, a Community Bike Repair Day, <br />Flat Fix Workshop, and Walk & Roll festival. <br />Outreach included communications with all area <br />schools, senior centers, youth groups, local <br />service organizations and the Placentia Police <br />Department. <br />Contact <br />Kyra Tao <br />Transportation Manager <br />Public Works Dept., City of Placentia <br />(714) 993-8121; ktao@placentia.org <br />Metro Adopt -a -Bike Program, 2021-22 <br />LA Metro retrieves over 300 bikes/month from <br />their transit system. Walk'n Rollers is one of six <br />organizations that collects, repairs and <br />redistributes the bikes that remain unclaimed. <br />Walk'n Rollers has developed an efficient <br />system that hires mechanics, trains student <br />volunteers and works with local organizations for <br />distribution of up to 100 bikes in a 12 month <br />period. <br />Contact <br />Brett Thomas <br />Principal Transportation Planner, LA Metro <br />213.922.7535, ThomasBA@metro.net <br />Active Transportation Program, Moreno <br />Valley, 2019-21 <br />program strived to build on recent Safe Routes <br />to School infrastructure improvements and <br />engage students and families through <br />development of safe pedestrian and bicycling <br />habits. The program aimed to engage with 11 <br />schools from elementary through high school. <br />Activities included development of Walk to <br />School Days at the elementary schools, <br />production of a student developed Walk & Roll <br />Festival at the middle school and creation of a <br />safety PSA through the high school video <br />production class. <br />COVID restrictions forced us to pivot mid - <br />campaign and deliver alternative programming <br />such as elementary school activity calendars <br />and community bike repair days. This six month, county -wide program <br />included Bike Skills Classes, LCI Seminar and <br />Operation Bright Lights and Operation Be Seen <br />programs for community distributions of bike <br />lights and helmets. <br />Walk'n Rollers was responsible for the creation <br />of all outreach materials, community outreach <br />and promotion, procurement of materials, <br />establishing appropriate multi -language <br />curricula, and distribution of hundreds of <br />helmets and lights and thousands of reflectors to <br />pedestrians riding OCTA buses. <br />Develop, coordinate and deliver various Contact <br />education and encouragement activities to add tin <br />Mar Paul <br />value and support for recent infrastructure Paul Martin <br />pmartin@markthomas.com <br />improvements throughout Moreno Valley.
