' VICENTE SARMIENTO
ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
SUPERVISOR, SECOND DISTRICT
COUNTY ADMINISTRATION NORTH BUILDING
400 W.CIVIC CENTER DRIVE.SANTA ANA,CALIFORNIA 92701
PHONE (714)834-3220
To the Honorable Mayor Amezcua and Santa Ana City Councilmembers:
I write this letter of support on behalf of the organization United Across Borders Foundation (UABF).
They were a vital part of the city of Santa Ana's food outreach efforts during the pandemic and
established a strong network within the predominately Spanish speaking community that they serve.
Their organization has a proven track record in helping to address hunger within Santa Ana and other
Second District cities with very minimal administrative overhead. UABF's food distribution program is
currently providing fresh organic produce to over 700 families each week. In addition to direct food
distribution, their staff have helped to connect these residents with other basic services including tax
preparation, COVID testing, and navigating other support services.
My office will partner with UABF on raising community awareness regarding upcoming cuts to the
CalFresh program. We look forward to continuing our partnership with them as we try to address the
needs of families within our community.
It is with these considerations in mind that I fully support continuing to fund their food distribution
program.
Sincerely,
Vicente Sarmiento
Orange County Board Supervisor, District 2
Cc: erika@uabfoundation.org
