Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/public-works <br />Item # 11 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />February 21, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Purchase Order to Best Contracting Services, Inc. for Fire Station 72 Hose <br />Tower and Fire Station 74 Roof Removal and Installation <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Award a Purchase Order in the Amount of $789,567 to Best Contracting Services, Inc. <br />for Fire Station 72 Hose Tower Roof Repair and Fire Station 74 Roof Removal and <br />Installation (Specification No. 22-170) (General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to Best Contracting <br />Services Inc. in the amount of $789,567, plus a contingency of $157,914, for a total <br />amount not to exceed $947,481, for Roof Removal and Installation at Fire Station 72 <br />Hose Tower and Fire Station 74, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the <br />City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency’s Building Maintenance section maintains most City facilities, <br />including ten fire stations. After assessing the facilities, it was identified that the roofs at <br />Fire Station 72 Hose Tower and Fire Station 74 were in poor condition and needed <br />immediate attention. In efforts to preserve the facilities and provide a safe work <br />environment for staff, it was determined that these locations were high-priority and a <br />complete roof replacement is necessary at each site. <br />The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on December 5, 2022 on the City’s online bid <br />management and publication system.
