Orozco, Norma <br /> From: Ginelle Hardy <ginelleann@gmail.com> <br /> Sent: Tuesday, March 21, 2023 1:18 PM <br /> To: eComment <br /> Subject: Consent Calendar Item: 17 <br /> Honorable Mayor and Councilmembers, <br /> Please hold your vote this evening on Consent Calendar Item: 17 Approve an Agreement with Dunbar Architecture for <br /> Architectural Design Services for the Historic Cypress Fire Station in an Amount Not to Exceed $434,880 for a Five- <br /> Year Term (Project No. 22-6023) (General Fund) <br /> Please continue this item until the Eastside/Pacific Park neighborhood has an opportunity to make comments related to the RFP <br /> about the use of the historic Cypress Fire Station. <br /> At at least one(1)meeting,if not more meeting need to be held in&for the community where the RFP drawings&proposed <br /> use of the building is disclosed and open for debate in the community @ an Eastside/Pacific Park neighborhood meeting- or a <br /> meeting held just for such a presentation and discussion-with City staff,Developer&Architectural Firm representatives <br /> in attendance! <br /> This is not asking too much,but only the bare minimum of what has been done in the past regarding proposed projects in <br /> other neighborhoods! <br /> The community MUST be able to provide feedback about use,parking,landscaping, availability of the building to the <br /> community, etc, - and the community's input must be reflected in a revised proposal with Neighborhood buy-in before the <br /> project is awarded funding by City Council. <br /> Please postpone voting on Consent Calendar Item: 17 tonight, and continue this matter until after the neighborhood has had <br /> an opportunity to provide necessary input @ a Community meeting related to this project with City Staff,Developer <br /> &Architectural firm in attendance.At such meeting all material related to RFP or pending proposal should be presented in <br /> full disclosure with all necessary drawings,displays&explanations.And choices given for use of the building made available <br /> to the neighborhood&community! <br /> Please be aware that there has been for years, and is now,neighborhood&community interest in both the preservation of <br /> the exterior of the historic Cypress Fire Station per state guidelines(Secretary Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation),AND the <br /> use of the building, or part of the building,open to the public for use by the neighborhood&community as a meeting space& <br /> an art center.
