ADMINISTRATIVE MEDICAL ASSISTANT fAMAI <br />In -class / On-line / Hybrid <br />(FRONT OFFICE, COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER) <br />Course Description <br />600 Clock Hours 125.5 Credit Hours <br />This six hundred hours (600), 25-week program prepares the student for entry level employment in a front office <br />setting of a physician's office, or Community Health Worker at a health care facility. The emphasis of the <br />program is placed on medical ethics, medical terminology, human relations, insurance billing, and secretarial <br />skills for a medical office. Basic computer operations (including MS Word and MS Excel), administration of front <br />office medical procedures, insurance forms, and CPT, and ICD-10 codes are also included. Soft skills training <br />will include ethics, good citizenship, teamwork, critical thinking and problem -solving skills, along with <br />communication, interpersonal and effective listening skills as well as de-escalating procedures. Students will be <br />required to participate in a 160-hour extern experience after completion of their classroom studies.
