• MODERN TECHNOLOGY SCHOOL- SCHOOL CATALOG <br />ADMISSION POLICIES & PROCEDURES <br />POLICIES & PROCEDURES: <br />Policies & procedures may be amended at any time following regulations by the school Campus <br />Director and Board of Directors. <br />Admission applications may be submitted to an admissions representative. At the time of application, <br />official transcripts from high school, GED, or California High School Proficiency Exam (CAHSPE) and <br />any post -secondary institutions the applicant attended should be sent directly to the school Registrar. <br />Foreign documents must be translated into English and may be required to be notarized on translated <br />documents. Translated documents must indicate it is an equivalent US high-school diploma. <br />Upon receipt of the application, the passage of the entrance exam, acceptance by the review <br />committee, application for or receipt of official transcripts, and any other required documents, the <br />applicant will be notified regarding acceptance for admission by mail. <br />In order for a potential student to be considered a regular student they must meet all the admission <br />requirements and be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in one of our eligible programs. They must <br />also be at least 18 years of age & possess a high school diploma, California High School Proficiency <br />Exam (CAHSPE), or equivalent GED. <br />ENGLISH ONLY INSTRUCTION <br />Modern Technology School does not provide visa services nor vouch for student status. Applicants <br />must be proficient in English at a High School Level. All courses are taught in English; all clinical <br />internship sites are English-speaking. <br />The recommended English language proficiency level should be the Professional Working <br />Proficiency or the fourth level of five in the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale of <br />language proficiency, formerly called the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) scale. Proficiency in the <br />English language must be that of a High School level. <br />This level is sometimes referred to as S-3 or Level 3. A person at this level is described as follows: <br />• able to speak the language with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to participate <br />effectively in most formal and informal conversations on practical, social, & professional topics, <br />• can discuss particular interests & special fields of competence with reasonable ease, <br />• has comprehension, which is quite complete for an average rate of speech, <br />• has a general vocabulary that is broad enough that they rarely have to fumble for a word, <br />• has an accent that may be foreign; has reasonable control of grammar; & whoseerrors <br />virtually never interfere with understanding & rarely disturb the native speaker. <br />ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PROGRAMS: <br />• Must be proficient in the English language at a High School Level, <br />• High School Diploma, official transcript verifying High School graduation, California <br />High School Proficiency Exam (CAHSPE) or GED, <br />• Passing score on the Wonderlic assessment, <br />• Health screening documents, <br />• Financial arrangements must be completed before admission, <br />• Two reference forms, and <br />• Approval of admissions committee based on personal interview. <br />9 <br />
